Who is Covered?

Any person who is injured or dependants of any person who is killed in a road crash at any place in Botswana where the general public has access to is covered. However, a negligent party’s claim is limited to P 300,000.00 and only to the extent of Medical Treatment and Rehabilitation. Medical Treatment and Rehabilitation claims for Visitors to Botswana remain claimable only during their stay in the country and would terminate upon their return to their country of origin.


If you’re injured in a road accident during your visit to Botswana, MVA Fund may be able to help with the cost of treatment and support you need while you’re here but once you return to your country the benefits cease. MVA Fund only covers treatment and rehabilitation costs while you are in Botswana; it is therefore not a replacement for travel insurance and does not cover illness, disrupted travel plans or emergency travel to get you back home.

Non Visitors

In terms of the MVA Fund Act No. 15, 2007, every person who is a citizen or resident of Botswana will receive full coverage but subject to the applicable legal limitations.
