MVA Fund Joins Global Fight Against Fraud

The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to integrity and transparency by actively participating in International Fraud Awareness Week, held from 16–22 November 2025. Under the theme “Fraud Prevention is a Team Effort – Don’t Sit on the Sidelines,” the initiative underscores the shared responsibility of every employee to safeguard organizational resources and uphold ethical standards.

Fraud is not just a financial threat it undermines trust and the very foundation of service delivery. Recognizing this, the Fund intensified its awareness efforts through staff education and engagement activities designed to strengthen fraud-prevention measures and foster a culture of accountability.

A highlight of the campaign was the Fraud Awareness Workshop hosted in Gaborone. The session featured Ms. Michelle Christobel Ströh, CFE and Secretary General of the Institute of Internal Auditors Botswana, who equipped employees with practical tools to detect, prevent, and report fraudulent activities. Her insights reinforced the importance of vigilance and proactive action in protecting the Fund’s integrity.

Speaking at the event, MVA Fund CEO, Mr. Michael Tlhagwane, emphasized that fraud prevention is an ongoing journey, not a one-time effort. He urged staff to remain alert and united, stating: “Fraud thrives in silence, but teamwork defeats it.” His message served as a powerful reminder that collaboration and transparency are key to defeating fraud.

As the Fund continues to champion ethical conduct, this initiative reflects its broader mission: to deliver services with honesty, accountability, and excellence. By joining the global fight against fraud, the MVA Fund reinforces its pledge to protect public trust and ensure that resources are used for their intended purpose supporting accident victims and promoting road safety.
