Strengthening Regional Collaboration Through Knowledge Sharing
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund had the honour of hosting an esteemed high level delegation from Zimbabwe, led by the Secretary for Transport and Infrastructural Development, Engineer Pedzisai Joy Makumbe. The delegation, comprising senior government officials, parliamentarians, legal experts, and transport sector leaders, visited Botswana for a benchmarking exercise on the establishment and operationalisation of a Road Accident Fund in Zimbabwe.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Mooketsi Tlhagwane, and MVA Fund Executive Management Committee, warmly welcomed the Zimbabwean delegation for a day and a half knowledge sharing engagement. The session provided a comprehensive overview of the Fund’s legislative framework and governance structure, detailing the oversight roles and responsibilities that support effective service delivery. Discussions also explored the road safety management followed by an in depth focus on post crash management particularly the structure, processes, and best practices applied within case management. The delegation was also capacitated in areas of financial and investment managements.
MVA Fund continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening regional partnerships through knowledge sharing and aligning with best international practices in furtherance of various SADC protocols. The Fund is proud to contribute to regional capacity building and looking forward to continued cooperation that improves legislative frameworks, enhances promotion of road traffic safety, and supports sustainable post‑crash care across the region.
