Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Michael Mooketsi Tlhagwane graduated from University of Botswana in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Commerce (Accounting). He started his professional career at Botswana Telecommunications Corporation where he spent 9.5 years. His first appointment was a Trainee Accountant and rose through the ranks to the position of Regional Finance Manager North.

On April 1^st, 2001, Mr. Tlhagwane joined Botswana Medical Aid Society as Financial Accountant and was later promoted to Finance Manager. After a period of five years at Botswana Medical Aid Society he left Society to join Motor Vehicle Accident Fund as General Manager Corporate Services a position which he held for 6 years and eight months. On January 1^st, 2013, he took a lateral move and joined Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority assuming the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Corporate Services) where he worked for 3 years and nine months. Mr. Tlhagwane re-joined MVA Fund on October 1st 2016, as the Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Tlhagwane has acquired a vast experience across several industries spanning over 29 years. He is an associate member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) and a Fellow of Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA). He obtained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Derby and has acquired two (2) executive development programmes from Centre for Continuing Leadership (CCL) and University of Stellenbosch Business School.

Mr. Tlhagwane currently serves in the following boards: Feune (Pty) Ltd, KYS Ltd, JTTM (Pty) Ltd and MRI Botswana where he is the chairman of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. Mr. Tlhagwane was previously a board member of BBS Ltd and was chairman of Finance and Audit Committee.
